Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the hospital. As I picked up speed down the driveway and went into my wheelie, the last thing I saw was a speck out of the corner of my eye. When I was 10, I was outside with two younger friends, and we were doing pop-wheelies into the street.

I played outside a lot, either with my brother or with the neighbor kids. He would come home after school, watch a movie, eat dinner, and disappear to his room.

When he got to high school, my brother, who is four years older than me, avoided my mom, even though he was the favored one because he was the boy. I noticed that my sisters, who are twelve and ten years older than I am, often fought with my mom. I can’t say that I had any doubts as a youngster.īut I grew up in a dysfunctional family. I knew who God was and what Jesus did from a pretty early age. We attended the Christian Reformed Church. My parents took me and my three siblings to church every Sunday-twice. Here we present two testimonies from people just like you. You’ll find testimonies from others to be fascinating, hope-filled, and a great way to get to know God and the power of faith. You may not realize you have a testimony until much later, but when you think back, you can see the hand of God working in your life. Some may involve a few different incidents that make far more sense to the believer after they reflect upon them with God. Some testimonies may involve great struggle and the story of how Jesus helped them through it. Testimonies come in all shapes and sizes! Some are very dramatic, with wild turning points and big ‘ah-ha! I get it!’ moments some are far less so and have a slow build, but they are no less compelling. As you continue in your journey, you’ll find more moments happen where God clearly shows up. When you become a believer in Jesus, your journey to that acceptance of him is your testimony. These stories of Jesus’ work in our lives, either to find Him, or find strength in Him, are known as testimonies. Your own story can be just as compelling and is the most powerful tool you have to demonstrate the love of Jesus and show how He has changed you to other people. If you’re looking for proof of Jesus’ ability, ask your peers about their own journey with Christ. While on their spiritual journey with Jesus, many people find the most compelling stories about Jesus come from the Christians they already know.
